The signal generator produces a sine, square, saw tooth or triangular wave shape on a known frequency.

This is useful for testing amplifiers and loudspeakers.

The one in the image goes from 0.1 Hz up to 110 kHz. It has other useful features allowing AM and FM signals to be produced.

It's possible to get a radio frequency signal generator. This is useful for testing receivers.

Examples

  • Sine Wave: A pure single frequency.
  • Square Wave: Useful for testing logic circuits.
  • Triangle Waves: Used to create pulse width modulation.
  • Saw Tooth: Could be used to test a comparator.
