When calculating remember always to use the whole SI unit such as Amps, Volts, Watts, Etc.
Quantity | Units | Measuring Instrument | What Is It |
Current | Amps or Amperes | Ammeter or multimeter | A flow of charged particles (usually electrons) |
Voltage | Volts | Volt Meter or multimeter | The electromotive force that causes current to flow |
Resistance | Ohms |
Ohm meter or multimeter Ammeter + Voltmeter |
Resistance restricts the flow of current to a lower level Ohms = Volts / Amps |
Power | Watts | Ammeter + Voltmeter | Volts x Amps |
Energy | Joules | Ammeter + Voltmeter + Clock | Volts x Amps x Seconds |
Capacitance | Farads | Capacitance meter or some multimeters | The ability to store charge (like water bucket size) |
Charge | Coulombs | Ammeter + Clock | Amps x Seconds |
Frequency | Hertz | Frequency Meter or some multimeters | This counts the number of cycles of a wave per second. |
Time | Seconds | Clock or Oscilloscope | Ask Stephen Hawking! |
