The simulation below shows three bridge circuits.

The first has fixed resistors. This becomes useful if one of the resistors depends on light, temperature or pressure, for example.

The second uses a potentiometer. The third is connected to a comparator.

The comparator output changes when the bridge balance reverses.

There are two potentiometers. These can be adjusted using your mouse to slide the sliders on the right.

Each circuit is connected to a volt meter measuring the potential difference ( PD ) between the two sides of the bridge. If the bridge is balanced, this PD is zero.
