Circuit Photo LED Cathode Power Connections Polarity Protection Diode

Do the Measurements and Answer the Questions

  1. How much current is flowing in this circuit?

  2. How much current flows through the volt meters?

  3. What is the voltage across the resistor?

  4. What is the voltage across the LED?

  5. What is the voltage across the polarity protection diode?

  6. If the polarity protection diode was not used, what would happen if the power was connected the wrong way round.

  7. If the current limiting resistor was replaced with a wire, what would happen?

  8. Measure the power supply voltage.

  9. Add the resistor, LED and diode voltages together.
This total should equal the power supply voltage.
What is the difference between your measurement and calculation?
