Switch Pull Up or Down
A switch is a special kind of resistor. When it's on, the resistance is very close to zero. When it's off, the resistance is very close to infinity.
These are voltage divider circuits where the output is either LOW or HIGH.
In these circuits
These circuits can be used to reset 555 monostable circuits and counters.
Microcontrollers and desktop computers usually have a reset switch. These will use one of these circuits.
Without the switch, the resistors can be used to permanently pull up or down a voltage in a circuit.
